How To Empower Yourself With Astrology

Many of us lead lives without self-awareness of how we work internally every day and then get frustrated when we feel powerless.
For a decade, I was trapped in a vortex of anxiety and depression, with no way out.
I didn't know anything about how my nervous system, my mind, my emotions, my body worked, much less how it worked when you added conditioning and trauma.
For a long time, I felt disconnected from my truth. I was always someone who turned to astrology as a self-awareness tool, but even that felt wrong. Whenever I'd read something about my Sagittarius sun sign, which is supposed to indicate who I am at my core, it didn't match. I realized years later, in my healing, that what I was reading was the reflection of who I am when I am aligned. I hadn't taken into consideration the conditioning and trauma I had been exposed to.
Recently, after 7 years of healing and connecting more with my Sagittarius sun sign, I still struggled to understand myself. I felt at odds with myself, like multiple parts of my system were clashing or fighting against each other. I often felt like there was an internal tug of war anytime I tried to push myself out of my comfort zone, or tried something new or tried to create. I felt like I was all over the place, indecisive, anxious, scared, and overwhelmed, which would result in a misaligned result or nothing at all.
On my Instagram page, "A Witch Without A Broom", I posted about being a walking contradiction and listed my three core astrological signs;
Sagittarius mind (sun - who I am inside), Capricorn body (rising sign - how I show up in the world), and Aries heart (moon - my emotional world).
And then my brain lit up because, for the first time, I looked at all three standing side by side as if they were people and instantly saw how they might interact, positively or negatively.
Flashbacks of specific situations came to my mind through this new perspective, and it made SO much sense. I couldn't believe I hadn't made the connection before.
I realized that the Sagittarius in me shines when I am aligned with my inner truth and have the space to embody it. Its traits include freedom, curiosity, truth-seeker, funny, and intuitive.
When I am not aligned, for example, when I am in survival mode, Capricorn and Aries shine. In survival mode, I am more observant, reserved, cautious, impulsive, jealous, cynical, stubborn, and sensitive.
Other times, my astrology signs clash in one single moment.
For example, I learned something new about myself, like this perspective on astrological signs and how they shine individually, work or clash together at any given time.
My Sagittarius brain gets excited because it learned something new, and from a philosophical standpoint, it wants to share this wisdom with others.
My Aries heart gets excited and reacts fast and loud, encouraging me to do it now!
My Capricorn body tells them to slow down and think it through first. Is it grounded? Is it true? How will we relay the message clearly to others?
My Aries reacts fast again, but this time from a conditioning angle, becomes anxious, wanting to abort the mission impulsively.
Sagittarius is in the background, waiting for Cap and Aries to get it together. She doesn't dare interfere because she understands why they're reacting this way. Survival mode is triggered.
Two things happen.
My body and heart go back and forth, my mind disconnects, and the whole idea falls apart, or Sagittarius comes back online and says, " Okay, I get how you both feel, so let's find a way to still share my ideas in a way that Capricorn feels safe and keeps Aries excited instead of overwhelmed."
If you choose to explore this perspective, keep it simple.
Here's a step-by-step:
Look up your astrology chart for free online.
Look up the core neutral traits of your sun, rising (ascendant), and moon signs.
Connect the dots between your signs and your life.
Notes to keep in mind:
Online astrology sign traits are not always neutral.
Avoid lists that advertise "positive" and "negative" traits.
Use discernment when curating neutral traits vs trauma responses listed as personality traits.
Neutral traits describe core or general traits within the sign.
Polarities, like positive or negative, include emotional subjectivity, trauma and conditioning distortions.
Every core trait can have sub-traits; for example, a truth-seeker can be honest (positive), insensitive (negative), manipulative (trauma), dishonest (emotional - fear), or naive (conditioning).
Save your notes. In a few months or a year, do this again and see if you've stayed the same, need more work on your alignment, or you're aligned with your truth!
Don't forget, your truth is fluid and evolves with your healing and growth; what's aligned today may not be aligned a year or two from now.
